Together We Can Beet Global Warming
(Online Book)
The alteration of the climate patterns is an extremely deadly and frighteningly irresponsible game to play. Scientists know how serious it is. Climatologists know about it. Oceanographers know about it. Insurance companies know, and are now factoring the huge cost increases into premiums for new policies. Politicians are told about it, if they ask. But if you are an average citizen, the whole thing seems just too confusing....

Australian Soil Carbon
Accreditation Scheme (ASCAS)
Dr Christine Jones created history by launching the Australian Soil Carbon Accreditation Scheme (ASCAS) at the 'Managingthe Carbon Cycle' workshop in Katanning, WA, at 3.14pm on 22 March 2007
Abstract
Australia has the highest per capita rate of greenhouse gas emissions in the world. Appropriately managed farmlands could effectively ‘mop up’ most of the excess carbon being emitted to the atmosphere, converting a potential hazard into an extremely productive opportunity.

Bamboo is catching on among green architects
This hollow-stemmed grass isn't just for flimsy tropical huts anymore — it's getting outsized attention in the world of serious architecture. From Hawai'i to Vietnam, it's used to build everything from luxury homes and holiday resorts to churches and bridges.
Boosters call it "vegetal steel," with clear environmental appeal. Lighter than steel but five times stronger than concrete, bamboo is native to every continent except Europe and Antarctica....

Australian scientists discover carbon storage solution
Plant Stones are discovered and Super Bamboo shows it power again!!

"As the countdown begins for the start of Australia's greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme, there is one sector of the economy that will not be included. It is agriculture. Already, forests are being bought and sold overseas for credits from the carbon they breathe in. But now two scientists claim we have not seen the grass for the trees, and that huge amounts of measurable carbon can also be stored for thousands of years in our pastures and crops."

Bamboo Ecosystem and Carbon Dioxide Sequestration
This exerpt is taken from the book "Sustainable Management and Utilization of Sympodial Bamboos" written by Fu Maoyi.
Preface: Population growth and elevation of living standards are placing a greater stress upon the natural environment. The burning of vast quantities of fossil fuels, the large- scale devastation of tropical forest and land-use change have resulted in a gradual increase of atmospheric Greenhouse gas concentration which in turn have led to global warming...

Group Sends Bamboo Homes to Chinas Quake Zone
As quake survivors take refuge in tarp tents across Sichuan Province, a Beijing-based nongovernmental organization is pushing a home-grown, quake-resistant housing solution: bamboo.
Though generally dismissed as “poor people’s timber” in the developing world, which favors “more modern” materials like steel and concrete, bamboo is more flexible for withstanding tremors and is widely grown in parts of southern China...

The Next Generation of Carbon Sequestration Solutions

We have recently discovered that a process which occurs naturally in plants may play an important role in countering CO2 emissions and global warming. This process is termed plantstone carbon - also referred to as phytolith occluded carbon.
Plantstone carbon is estimated to currently extract 300 million tones of ..

Bamboo: an overlooked biomass resource?
Bamboo is the common term applied to a broad group (1250 species) of large woody grasses, ranging from 10 cm to 40 m in height. Already in everyday use by about 2.5 billion people, mostly for fiber and food within Asia, bamboo may have potential as a bioenergy or fiber crop for niche markets, although some reports of its high productivity seem to be exaggerated. Literature on bamboo productivity is scarce, with most reports coming from various parts of Asia
