The bottom line is that the world's oil production is close to peaking, with demand for the product soon to outstrip supply.

The latest study on the problem, the McNamara report commissioned by the Queensland Government, follows such research as the landmark report by US energy analyst Robert Hirsch.

 - interesting Much of the bamboo being used commercially comes from plantations in China. Horticulturalists think that someday it could and should be grown in the USA. It is an eco-friendly crop as it is typically grown without chemicals and pesticides. It's used commercially for everything from floors to blue jeans.

Mankind's response to climate change will shift how the world gets its energy and is already making "green barons" out of early investors in renewable energy, clean technologies and carbon trading.

Four entrepreneurs who are cashing in on the energy revolution say there is more money to be made.

Australian David Scaysbrook, 43, founder of Novera Energy, made more than $7 million when he cashed in some of his shares in the wind power and landfill gas firm he founded in 1998.

Perhaps the environmental crisis' at hand have not yet touched your life, but the time is shortly to come. Recent NASA reports of a 60% loss of ozone over the arctic provide an explanation for increased severity in the worlds weather patterns which has only begun to affect us whether directly or indirectly. The social, political and economic implications are difficult to imagine as our ozone layer continues to thin, forests disappear and desertization is occurring at an alarming rate.

Indian state uses bamboo for power generation

 
Indian scientists are working on developing power plants supported by bamboo waste, by turning bamboo into gas and then electricity. The first two such projects will be set up in Assam by February 2006. This is being looked at as a highly cost-effective and eco-friendly way to generate power to support the region’s needs. The power stations will have a capacity of 1 megawatt each. see article here
